EVIDENCE-BASED RESEARCH
Encouraging systematic efforts to achieve strategic research goals
The mission of the Behavioral Medicine Research Council
is to identify strategic, high-priority research goals and encourage multidisciplinary and multicenter research networks to pursue them.
The Need for BMRC
Our Dedication to the Field of Behavioral Medicine
Behavioral, psychosocial, and psychiatric factors play substantial roles in many medical conditions, but evidence-based behavioral interventions and basic mechanisms are not often taken into consideration in practice. Such approaches are imperative to influence an increased focus on behavioral medicine interventions in disease prevention, clinical treatment, and health policy. The BMRC is focused on the discovery of basic mechanisms underlying behavior change involved in said interventions; specifically, it connects behavioral scientists to create large-scale, collaborative efforts to advance behavioral interventions and their basic mechanisms and, ultimately, improve the health of all individuals.
